United States

The Brothers of the Christian Schools set in the United States for good in 1845. An American Brother trained in Montreal and assisted by an Irish Canadian Brother opened a first school in Baltimore, Maryland.

At the present time, the website points to only rare cases of association between lay American publishers and the Brothers of the Christian Schools, whether it be the publication by J. A. Jacques, at Worcester, of Lectures graduées : troisième livre, earlier published by the Brothers in Montreal in 1891, book evidently intended for the Franco Americans, or, the reverse, the publication by the community of a translation of manuals of arithmetic of the American publisher Ginn: Exercices d’arithmétique, cahier Ginn "D" (7e et 8 e année) and Exercices d’arithmétique: septième année.
