David E. Shulenburger
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, University of Kansas
David Shulenburger is Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor of the University of Kansas and has been the chief academic officer since 1993. He came to the University in 1974 and currently holds the faculty rank of Professor. His teaching areas are business economics and labor relations, and his current research focuses on the economics of scholarly communications. He has received several University-wide teaching awards.
He is active nationally and internationally as an advocate for reform in the areas of scholarly communication and academic accreditation.
He is past Chair of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges Council on Academic Affairs, Vice Chair of the Center for Research Libraries, Board member of BioOne, and serves on the boards of numerous other non-profits.
He previously served as a faculty member at Clemson University and as a labor economist for the U.S. Department of Labor. He received his Ph.D. and Masters degrees from the University of Illinois and his undergraduate degree from Lenoir Rhyne College.
