GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

All papers presented at the IATUL Conference will be published in the Conference Proceedings. For reasons of uniformity, all papers should adhere to the format specified in these guidelines.

Format

  • The papers and abstracts of posters should be supplied in PDF format (preferred) or MS-Word.
  • PowerPoint presentations can be sent in native format.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 11 point; or Times 11 point. Paragraphs without indents, space before each paragraph - 6 point
  • The texts should be justified.
  • Pages should have 30 mm margins (top and bottom) and 40 mm (left and right).
  • Pages should be in one column and with text in single spacing.
  • Please do not include page numbers, headers, footers and any logos or identifications.

Title of the paper

The title should be concise but descriptive, 16 point, bold, title-cased and centred. It should be positioned 4 cm below the margin of the first page.

Authors names and affiliations

  • Author's name - 12 point, bold, centred. Multiple authors: list them with contact information in alphabetical order.
  • Author's affiliation (i.e., university, agency, or corporation, e-mail) - 10 point, normal, centred.
  • Do not include the authors' positions or titles.
  • Underline the name of the presenting author.

Abstract

Each paper should be preceded by a concise abstract reflecting the content of the paper. 10 point Normal, justified.
Below the abstract write a few keywords for searching purposes (in alphabetical order).

Body of the paper

The paper or extended abstract should be divided into appropriate sections.

    Headings and subheadings

  • Major headings are to be left justified in a 12 point, bold font, title-cased.
  • Numbering is optional.
  • Subheadings should be left justified, 11 point, and title-cased on a separate line.

    Figures and tables

  • Figures and tables should be inserted at the appropriate places in the text, centred, numbered and captioned (10 point, normal) below and above, respectively.
  • Titles of tables and text in tables - 10 point
  • Titles of tables left justified
  • Do NOT include embedded postscript pictures or graphs. Excel graphs and charts should be copied and pasted as picture.

    Images

  • Images, figures, and tables may be included in papers. Follow these guidelines:
  • Embed all images
  • To limit display time, keep images as small as possible before you embed them in Word. You can do this by limiting the number of colors/gray scale to 256 (or less when possible), limiting the image bitmap resolution to 150 dpi and using vector graphics whenever possible.

    References

  • Referencing should be by consecutive numbers in square brackets in the text, e.g. [2].
  • When referring to papers with more than two authors in the text, use 'et al'.
  • List and number all references at the end of the paper. They should include (in the following order): author name(s) and initials, year of publication, article title, journal name, volume number and page numbers (or book title, publisher, place and year of publication). 10 point, normal, left, Arabic numbers.

    Language

The language editing of the papers for publication is the responsibility of the author and the Programme Committee reserves the right not to publish papers.

length of the paper

The recommended paper length is 2000 - 3500 words, including figures, tables and appendices.

Posters

Each participant of the poster session will be provided with two display boards, a table and a chair.

IATUL's copyright policy

IATUL does not claim copyright to the paper but only the right to publish. The policy of IATUL is to publish the conference papers and/or PowerPoint presentation in the IATUL Conference Proceedings and on the IATUL website. Beyond that, the author retains the rights to publish in any other media. An IATUL Copyright Agreement form is available here.
