Alane Wilson
OCLC
Alane Wilson graduated from the University of British Columbia's School
of Library and Information Studies, in Vancouver, in 1986, and joined
the staff of the University of Calgary (Alberta) Libraries the same
year. She was a subject bibliographer, a reference librarian and a
manager. In 1995, she was hired by the University of Alaska Fairbanks
library as the Head of Reference and Instructional Services.
In 1997,
Alane joined OCLC as a field sales representative for the Pacific
Northwest region, and has since worked in marketing and business
development at OCLC. In March 2003, she resigned from OCLC but this was
shortlived as Jay Jordan (OCLC CEO) recruited her in June 2003 to work
on the OCLC Environmental Scan. In addition to co-authoring and editing
the Scan, she has published articles, spoken to many groups, and is one
of three OCLC contributors to the "It's All Good" blog
http://scanblog.blogspot.com/
After several consulting contracts for OCLC, Alane rejoined OCLC
full-time in May 2004. She was born in London, England, is a Canadian
citizen, and is married to an American.
