ABSTRACTSpeaker: David E. Shulenburger TITLE: Public Goods and Open Access Many proposals have been considered to reform scholarly communications. Some are mild adaptations of the existing systems; others are radical revisions insofar as the economic model is concerned. This presentation will examine these proposals and focus on the substantial, enduring reason to modify scholarly communication in a minor manner in order to accommodate the public goods nature of many scholarly articles.
